One&Only The Palm, Dubai in collaboration with Global Gumbo Group, was proud to host and co-sponsor an exclusive red carpet event on 11.11.11 (Friday 11 November 2011), which saw the world premiere of the charity single ‘Tomorrow-Bokra’; a re-adaptation of Quincy Jones’ Grammy-award winning song entitled ‘Tomorrow (A Better You, A Better Me)’.
Hosted by Quincy Jones and Badr Jafar, both Executive Producers on the charity single, presented by popular MBC TV personality Raya Abi Rached with a special introductory speech by Egyptian actress Yousra and Shakira (by video message) to a united audience at 101 Dining Lounge on the marina, included a dynamic mix of well-known personalities from various entertainment, public and private industries as well as 11 of the artists involved in the project. The song which was simultaneously premiered live at 11.11pm on Friday 11 November 2011, internationally on the Tomorrow-Bokra YouTube channel (YouTube.com/tomorrowbokra) received over 1, 000 000 views in just 5 days and was aired regionally on MBC. The befitting event concluded with a dazzling fireworks display and spectacular live performances by four of the artists featured on the track – Waed from Saudi Arabia, Diana Karazon from Jordan, Fahad Al Kubaissi from Qatar and Asma Lmnwar from Morocco.

The highly anticipated musical collaboration, features 24 Arab stars from 16 nations across the Middle East and North Africa including legendary Lebanese singer Majida El Roumi who wrote the Arabic lyrics, Kadim Al Sahir who worked on the music adaptation, Marwan Khoury (Lebanon), Sherine Abdel Wahab, Tamer Hosny (Egypt), Saber Rebai, Latifa (Tunisia), Fayez Al Saeed (UAE), Asma Lmnawar, Hayat Al Idrissi, Hasna Zallagh (Morocco), Souad Massi (Algeria), Cheb Jilani (Libya), Diana Karazon, Hani Mitwasi (Jordan), Nassif Zaitoun (Syria), Rim Banna (Palestine), Essa Al Kubaissi, Fahad Al Kubaissi (Qatar), Salah Al Zadjali (Oman), Ahmad Al Jumairi (Bahrain), Waed, Mashael (Saudi Arabia) and Ahmed Hussein (Kuwait). Grammy-nominated international superstar Akon also lent his vocals to the track, and Shakira, who is of Lebanese descent, recorded a special introduction to the music video.
All proceeds raised from the sale of the album entitled ‘BOKRA’, iTunes downloads, pledges and donations made via www.tomorrowbokra.org will be collected by the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture in support of the United Nations World Food Program, Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation and many other beneficiaries, to finance educational programs in music, arts and culture for children from across the Arab world.For more information on this inspirational project please visit:
